At the beginning, the Polish team finished the ski jumping competition on the 4th place with the loss of 0.4 point in comparison with the 3rd place. After that the big confusion took place, the results were corrected and it was announced that our team was placed on the 3rd position. The gold medal went to the Austrian team and the silver one went to the German team.
During the first series the coaches often changed the length of the run-up. Before the ski jump of Anders Bardal from the Netherlands the start bar went back to 22nd platform, however the referees awarded Bardal with some bonus points for the start from the run-up no. 20. Thomas Morgenstern saw that mistake and taking his advice Germans protested against the result. After the next calculation of points it turned out that after the second series, the team from the Netherlands came down on the 4th position with the loss of 3.7 points in comparison with the Polish team. It meant that for the first time in history our team won the World Ski Championships medal.
Grupa Azoty – the Official Partner of the Polish Ski Federation congratulates the competitors on their great success.
