The contract’s value is estimated at PLN 170m. The new supplier was selected in a tender procedure carried out at all companies of the Grupa Azoty Group. 

“The successful participation in the tender is an important step to further strengthen our position as a gas supplier for the important Polish market in close cooperation with our local company RWE Polska,” said André Stracke, COO Origination and Gas Supply RWE Supply & Trading.

“The contract with RWE is another example of our ability to actively exploit the opportunities of diversifying the sources of our strategic feedstock – natural gas,” said Marian Rybak, President of the Grupa Azoty Puławy Management Board. 

Natural gas is the basic commodity for Grupa Azoty Puławy. The annual demand for gas used in the production of ammonia by Grupa Azoty Zakłady Azotowe Puławy S.A. amounts to approximately to 1bcm. Meeting at least 50% of that amount, PGNiG S.A. is the Company’s key supplier.
