After a series of audits carried out in 2017 by certification body DNV-GL, the Grupa Azoty Group companies, which are members of Fertilizers Europe, have been awarded certificates in Product Stewardship for best practices in the management of the fertilizer life cycle.
Grupa Azoty is engaged in supporting the promotion of a DNA lab-on-a-chip project developed by NEXBIO Sp. z o.o., a start-up based in Lublin.
Grupa Azoty will be presenting two of its production segments − plastics and OXO − at the 21st International Fair of Plastics and Rubber Processing PLASTPOL, taking place in Kielce from May 23rd to May 26th. Visitors to its exhibition stand will also have an opportunity to meet some of the athletes competing under the Grupa Azoty banner.
In the first quarter of 2017, the Grupa Azoty Group recorded consolidated revenue of PLN 2.69bn, up over PLN 200m (9%) year on year, with EBITDA in excess of PLN 447m and net profit of PLN 250m. The Company also updated the 2013–2020 strategy.
In 2016, the Grupa Azoty Group earned revenue of nearly PLN 9bn, reporting EBITDA of more than PLN 1bn with EBITDA margin of 11.2%, and net profit of PLN 375m with net profit margin of 4.2%.
Grupa Azoty has joined forces with TAURON on a project to construct a coal gasification unit for chemical production. A letter of intent was signed by the parties in Warsaw on April 20th 2017.
On December 16th 2016, Friday, the Supervisory Board of Grupa Azoty S.A. appointed Mr Wojciech Wardacki, DSc(Econ), as President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty S.A. At the same meeting, the Supervisory Board removed the previous President Mariusz Bober.   
Both resolutions, i.e. the resolution appointing the new President and the resolution removing the previous one, took effect on the date they were adopted. The previous President held the office for less than ten months starting from last February.

On December 14th, the list of stocks included in the tenth edition of the RESPECT Index was announced in the Listing Room of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. This year, the index included a record number of twenty five companies. It is Grupa Azoty S.A.’s enormous success to find itself among the eight companies that have been continuously included in the index since its launch in 2009.
The first Capital Market Forum was held on November 25th. The event took place at the Warsaw Stock Exchange and attracted over 300 investors, representatives of companies and speakers. Grupa Azoty was also present to collect the Business Sharks award. 
The conference, organised by inwestorzy.tv, was an occasion to meet and exchange experiences with investors, listed companies, business people and institutions associated with the Polish and foreign financial markets. The main partners of the event included WSE-listed Pfleiderer Group, Immobile Group and ABC Data.
Air Products and Grupa Azoty ZAK sign new contract for the supply of industrial gases
On November 23rd, Air Products, one of the largest suppliers of industrial gases in Poland, and Grupa Azoty Zakłady Azotowe Kędzierzyn S.A. of the Grupa Azoty Group, the second largest manufacturer of mineral fertilizers in the European Union, signed a long-term oxygen and nitrogen supply contract. Valid until the end of 2035, the contract is a continuation of the companies’ cooperation, dating back to 1997. By signing the contract, Air Products strengthens its position of a leading supplier of industrial gases for the key branches of Polish industry. 
The fifth edition of the ‘CHEMICAL INDUSTRY SUMMIT & AWARDS GALA’, an event organised by Executive Club in cooperation with PWC Polska, was held on November 21st 2016. Grupa Azoty became the main partner of the conference, which ended with the Diamonds of the Polish Chemical Industry Gala. The event was held under the honorary patronage of Jarosław Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister. 
The Process Dynamics and Control Laboratory opened at the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering is an effect of cooperation between the West Pomeranian University of Technology (ZUT) in Szczecin and Grupa Azoty Zakłady Chemiczne Police S.A. The cost of the laboratory equipment was EUR 70 thousand.
The facility was created to address the need to educate students in the field of olefin production processes. It will also be used to improve employee qualifications, mainly of PDH Polska S.A., a special purpose vehicle of Grupa Azoty Police, established to construct a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit.
